Introducing the Outliers Summit
I spent the first five years of my career clueless, not knowing what I wanted to do with my life.
At the time, I thought that joining one of the big tech companies in the world would give me a sense of accomplishment and direction, but no, it did not.
So I moved to New York, because I had a hunch that the most ambitious people in the world were building here. My hunch was right.
In 2020, I started hosting events mostly so I would have a reason to meet people, and through them I met founders, CEOs, and builders that I did not know existed, building things I did not know were possible to build.
Being in close proximity to such ambitious people made me want to go build my own thing, so I did – and it changed my life completely. Surrounding myself with such relentless people gave me the agency to build an audience, a reputation, friendships I still have, and a business that has made me millions of dollars doing work I actually love – bringing people together.
It’s like being given a map to a maze that I never knew existed, and once I saw what is possible, I never went back. And it’s a gift I’ve been trying to give others ever since.
So in 2024, I called up my friend Ankur Nagpal, one of the most brilliant and well-connected people I knew, and pitched him the idea of doing a summit bringing together extraordinary people.
So we came up with the idea of the OOO Summit (Owners, Operators, Outliers), and over 600 people attended our first Summit. It blew my expectations away.
In 2025, we more than doubled it. Over 3,000 people attended over the week and over 800 at the main event.
Over those two years, the stage has held Guillermo Rauch (Vercel), Andrew Yang, Sahil Bloom, Sam Parr, Alex Lieberman, Packy McCormick, Nathan Barry, Steph Smith, Justin Welsh and Kyla Scanlon, among many others.
I will be honest with you: it is the hardest, most stressful thing I’ve ever done, especially with a small team, but it is the most meaningful thing I’ve done in my career.
But every year, it’s worth it because I keep meeting people who started a company after sitting in that room.
Which brings me to today.
We called it the OOO Summit, for Owners, Operators, and Outliers. That name is no longer relevant.
Why:
The people showing up are not only business owners and operators. There are entire categories of work that did not exist when we picked that name. Multi-hyphenates. Hybrid creators. Solo builders. People running companies of one with agents doing the rest. Careers nobody has a title for yet.
So today, the OOO Summit becomes the Outliers Summit.
I define an outlier as someone who chose the unconventional path in their discipline, someone who is unreasonably ambitious about what they are building. Most people optimize the path they were handed. Outliers go find a different one. If that is you, we’d love to have you.
We’re also doubling the size of our Summit this year. Two days instead of one.
Day 1, November 5. How Outliers Build. Tactical sessions across the disciplines you need in the AI era. You leave having built the thing yourself. An app, an agent, an audience, a brand.
Day 2, November 6. How Outliers Think. Candid, off-the-record conversations about the bets and mindsets that separate outliers from everyone else.
This year we’ve confirmed Ryan Hoover (Product Hunt, Weekend Fund), Sahil Lavingia (Gumroad), Andy Dunn (Bonobos, Pie), Nadya Okamoto (Pie, August), Zach Sims (Codecademy), Nik Sharma, Nat Eliason, and many more to be announced.
Over the week, we expect over 4,000 people from 3,000 companies to attend.
Data from previous years:
54% are founders, C-suite, VPs or investors
39% are founders and CEOs specifically
48% of founders have raised $1M or more
The average founder has raised $5.9 million.
The operators who attend come from companies like Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, Stripe, Ramp, Notion, Palantir, Goldman Sachs, a16z, Thrive and Bessemer, and from the several thousand startups that make up the rest of the room.
Hosted by Ankur Nagpal and me in partnership with AngelList.
🎟️ Early-bird pricing ends August 12, and prices go up 30% after that. Two-day passes are $149.
If you have been circling the unconventional path, the fastest way I know to get onto it is two days around people already on it.
